Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the CD. This might include, but isn't limited to, scratches, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Blue Note (Japan), 1957. Used
A very appropriate title for a very cooking little album – one of Lee Morgan's first efforts as a leader, cut back during his first years of late 50s fame! The style here is a bit less Morgan-esque than some of Lee's later 60s classics – but the record is rock-solid throughout, and ... CD

Mindblowing work from pianist Andrew Hill – one of the key records during that short initial run when Blue Note was really giving him a special showcase for his talents – and when the label was dabbling in more avant jazz as part of the "new thing" moment on the scene! The ... CD

Donald Byrd

Electric Byrd
Blue Note, 1970. Used
Donald Byrd in a sweet electric mode – as you'd guess from the title! The set was recorded right before Byrd's legendary run with Larry Mizell in the early 70s – and the electric approach is a bit different here – a style that blends Byrd's wonderful trumpet lines with the larger ... CD

Blue Note, 1964. Used

Blue Note, 1964. Used
One of our top 5 favorite Blue Note records of all time – a bold and powerful session from trumpeter Lee Morgan, but one that sat in the vaults for 15 years before release! The session was recorded around the same time as Morgan's hit The Sidewinder (which eclipsed its release at the time) ... CD
Blue Note, 1966. Used
A really unique album from the great Lee Morgan – a set that features the trumpeter in two different settings, but in a way that really works well together! Most of the album has Lee blowing in a very cool quintet – with Joe Henderson on tenor, McCoy Tyner on piano, Bob Cranshaw on ... CD
Blue Note, 1957. Used
One of the greatest Sonny Rollins records ever – and a genre-defining record that really introduced the world to the concept of a tenor saxophone trio! Rollins is incredible here – really at his best and most adventurous, and almost light years ahead of his work from just a few short ... CD

Klaus Doldinger

Passport Live
Wounded Bird, 2008. Used
Later than classic vintage for the Passport group, but still very much in the best spirit of their classics – far-reaching fusion, all headed by creative reedmaster Klaus Doldinger! The set's got a relatively spacious feel – lots of long tracks, with plenty of soloing by the group ... CD

Charlie Haden & Paul Motian

Etudes (CDr on demand pressing)
Soul Note (Italy), 1987. Used
Beautiful sounds from the team of bassist Charlie Haden and percussionist Paul Motian – a record that draws on their earlier experiments on the ECM label, but delivers a sound with a lot more bite! The real difference here is pianist Geri Allen – whose presence in the group really ... CD
