A classic West Coast session, long hailed by critics as one of the best to come out of the LA scene. Shorty Rogers leads a crack group of players that includes Art Pepper, Jimmy Giuffre and Bob Cooper through a bunch of short swinging tracks that really have an edge to them. The tracks were originally recorded for a 10" LP, and they're combined here with a few more that were recorded during another Rogers session in 1956.
