The Trammps will forever be blamed for the disco explosion of the late 70s – and for all the crimes that were perpetrated in the wake of Saturday Night Fever – but trust us, you've got to give them one more chance! The group's a lot better than you'll remember – if all you can remember is "Disco Inferno" – and in a way, they were the ultimate realization of that east coast "harmony group gone uptempo" sound that pushed out of the underground to the mainstream during the mid 70s. This set's got a total of 18 cuts, nearly all of which are produced to Philly perfection by the team of Norman Harris, Ronnie Baker, and Earl Young. Titles include "Love Epidemic", "Zing Went The Strings Of My Heart", "Where Do We Go From Here", "Hooked For Life", "Trammps Disco Theme", "Ninety Nine & A Half", "Seasons For Girls", "Disco Party", "That's Where The Happy People Go", "Soul Searchin Time", and of course, "Disco Inferno".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Essential New Orleans piano from Professor Longhair – an artist who was neither a professor, nor a man with much hair! The chrome-domed pianist had a huge influence on the sound of New Orleans R&B and soul to come – as he played in a triplet-heavy way that was rooted in blues, but ... CD

Sure, they were hitmakers – but we love these guys, and find them to be one of the most radical vocal groups of all time! Under the impeccable guidance of Lieber & Stoller, the group recorded some of the fiercest vocal numbers of the 50s – mixing incredibly soulful vocals with an ... CD

Persuasions

Acappella
Straight/Rhino, 1969. Used
The title gets it right on this one, because The Persuasions sing all acappella – quite unique for soul music at such a time of heavy production! The group were a great throwback to an earlier era of vocal group harmony – and this album, recorded for Zappa's Straight label, gave them ... CD

Brilliant work by Terry Callier – and his greatest album in years! If you, like us, have loved Terry's older work, but been a bit disappointed by the heavy production of recent albums, then you'll probably love this excellent live set – recorded recently at London's Jazz Cafe, with ... CD
Westbound (UK), Early 70s. Used
It's hard to sum up the genius of the Ohio Players at Westbound Records in words – but this set does a pretty good job of doing the whole thing with music! The group are at their trippy, early best here – much more funk and soul than on their initial psych debut, yet still not as ... CD
