There It Is (parts 1 & 2)

7-inch (Item 49115) Polydor, 1972 — Condition: Near Mint-

7-inch, Vinyl record

✈
An oft-forgotten funky classic from James! The track's a monster – with this wah-wah beat that's flanged all over the place, yet is still as tight as a pair of pants with a 26 inch waist! The groove is prime JBs early 70s – and James is shoutin and callin the groove over the top!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

King, Late 60s. Good
An undisputed groover! The track's a killer uptempo one from James' later years on King – and it's got this amazing beat that snaps along at a full deep stride. Very nice stuff, and the kind of tight grooving that would show up later in his work with the JBs – done here earlier, with ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
King, 1966. Very Good+
A great deep soul tune from James! The track's a holiday number – and the sweet little baby boy is ol' JC himself – but with James singing the vocals, the whole thing sounds like some great southern soul number, with Christmas only a deep memory away. Nice and slow and soulful – ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Polydor, 1972. Good
Shouting storming uptempo funk from JB – and a track that really hints at his work at the end of the 70s! The cut screams dancefloor all over the place – and believe us, when James has bugs in his pants, he sure knows how to scream! Plus, this single also includes the oddly-numbered ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Carlo Rustichelli

L'Homme Presse
Polydor (France), 1977. Near Mint- (pic cover)
A rare EP for the film L'Homme Presse – music that has this open, floating sort of vibe – light strings, and isolated piano lines – almost at a level that's like some of our favorite French composers from the early 70s. There's some lightly classical touches, but the sound is ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Polydor, 1972. Very Good+
1 of James Brown's best duets – "What My Baby Needs Now" is a sweet soul groove, with a nice swinging midtempo pace. 7-inch, Vinyl record

Alvin Cash & The Crawlers

Barracuda/Do It One More Time
Mar V Lus, 1965. Very Good+
Classic hard-grooving Alvin Cash – with that early Mar V Lus sound that feels like it was recorded at the bottom of a well! Not that that's a problem, though, as the approach makes the single bump and groove right off your turntable! "Barracuda" is a funky funky fishy dance – ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
