Killer live work from Miles Davis' early electric years – a non-US release from Columbia, and one that features a smoking concert performance from the 1969 Festiva De Juan Pins! The group here is almost in Bitches Brew formation, but they're also playing with an even darker, freer groove at times too – one that seems to jump ahead to the intensity of some of Miles' early 70s Japanese double albums, with a similar sense of majesty and power! The group on the date is a quintet – still with Wayne Shorter on tenor and soprano sax – but also featuring Chick Corea on electric piano, Dave Holland on bass, and Jack DeJohnette on drums – all hip young generation players that match Miles' mood wonderfully.
