Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Beautiful sounds from pianist Denny Zeitlin – one of those players who often gets overlooked, but who's made some incredibly expressive music over the years! The album's got a sparkle that really takes us back to Denny's 60s sides for Columbia, but it's also got a slightly more mature ... CD
32 Jazz, Late 70s. Used 2 CDs
2 CD set that brings together 2 long out of print Muse albums by the late soulful trumpeter Woody Shaw. Both records are great, and are a very nice blend of Shaw's modernist side and soul jazz roots. Muse/32 Jazz, 1977. Used
Although the Muse label had a reputation for doing mostly straight ahead sessions, they did manage to come up with some great avant ones, thanks mainly to the production work of Michael Cuscuna. Sal Nistico

Live
That's Jazz, 1981. Used
Some great open-ended blowing from Sal Nistico – one of those excellent California live dates produced by Pat Britt, nearly all of which seem to show the leaders in more exciting formation than some of their studio recordings! The tracks here are all quite long, and Nistico proves that he ... CD

Mike Richmond

Turn Out The Stars
Steeplechase (Denmark), 2023. Used
Mike Richmond is plucking the cello on the front of the cover – and within, he uses the instrument in a wonderfully fluid, jazzy style – really living up to the legacy of earlier work on the cello in jazz by artists like Ron Carter, Sam Jones, or Eldee Young! The group is nice and lean ... CD

Nathan Davis

Hip Walk
Saba/MPS (Germany), 1965. Used
A killer hardbop session from the early years of MPS/Saba Records – and one of the boldest statements on record from the mighty American reedman Nathan Davis – then residing in Europe, and really making some great waves on the scene! As with so many of the best Saba gems, the record ... CD

Clark Terry

Color Changes
Candid/DA (Germany), 1960. Used
An excellent little album that's also one of Clark Terry's hippest! The set was recorded as part of the monumental Candid catalog in the early 60s – and it's got an edgey quality that we don't normally hear in Terry's work. At some level, he's working in a mode picked up from his time with ... CD
