Some obscure work – and nice! We really dig side one of this LP – as it's got Diz in one of his rare "with strings" sessions, recorded here with backings by the Paris Opera-Comique Orchestra, on tunes that include "Night & Day", "The Man I Love", "My Old Flame", and "I Waited For You". Diz's work in this respect is very similar to Charlie Parker's – with lots of moody overtones, and broad washes of dark tone and emotion. Django's work is from his last recording date ever – with accompaniment by Maurice Vander, Pierre Michelot, and Jean-Louis Vialle, on tunes that include "Insensibilement", "Nuages", "Night & Day", and "Manoir De Mes Reves". © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
