Martino plays in a 2-guitar quartet – with Bobby Rose backing him up on guitar, plus rhythm accompaniment by Richard Davis and Billy Higgins. The sound's definitely in the trippier, post-hippie style of Martino's work, with a sort of looseness and fluidity that you either love or hate, but a nicely swinging rhythm underneath. Titles include "Footprints", "Road Song", "The Visit", and "Alone Together".  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

32 Jazz, 1974. Used
James Moody's definitely feelin it here – stepping back into a straighter hardbop mode after some funkier sets of the early 70s – really sounding great on tenor, alto, and flute – and working with a very hip quartet for the date! Kenny Barron's in the group on both electric and ... CD

Cedar Walton - Hank Hobley Quintet

Breakthrough (32 Jazz)
32 Jazz, 1972. Used
One of the last great albums that Hank Mobley ever cut! Although Mobley's 70s output was nothing compared to his 60s Blue Note work, this 1972 session for Cobblestone/Muse is a winner, and features the aging tenorist co-leading a crack quintet with Cedar Walton, and featuring Billy Higgins, Sam ... Almoravid
32 Jazz/Muse, 1973. Used
Wonderful work from an unsung hero of the soulful jazz underground of the 70s! Although Joe Chambers came to great fame as the writer and drummer behind some of Bobby Hutcherson's best records late 60s, he didn't really ever make that many records under his own name as a leader – and this ... CD

Lonnie Plaxico

Short Takes
Muse, 1992. Used
Soulful fusion work from bassist Lonnie Plaxico – but still with more than enough sharp edges to please our ears! In a way, the record's a nice merging of two generations of work on Muse Records – the older soul jazz and fusion the label forced back in the 70s, and some of the smoother ... CD

Buck Hill

Impulse
Muse, 1992. Used
Buck Hill blows mean and lean here – working in a quartet with a solidly soulful finish, one that's perfect for his well-schooled sound on the tenor sax! The album's got a really non-nonsense feel – production from Houston Person that keeps the sound plenty clean, and very focused on ... CD
32 Jazz/Atlantic, Late 60s. Used 2 CDs
Fantastic material from the late 60's period in which Eddie Harris was using his amazing tone, Atlantic's money, and the deep resources of the Chicago jazz scene to come up with some of the best recordings of his career. The four albums on this CD set – The In Sound, Mean Greens, Tender ... CD
