Warm jazzy soul from Patti Austin – a record that still holds strongly in the sound she pioneered with GRP Records in earlier years, proof that Austin was one of the leading lights of the label during its classic years! There's a few tinnier keyboards here than a decade ago, but there's plenty of great mellow moments too – and overall, Austin's still quite far from some of the too-commercial soul of contemporaries who were trying to cash in on her act. Dave Grusin produced, and titles include "In My Life", "Too Soon To Know", "Through The Test Of Time", "Good In Love", "Wait For Me", "First Time Love", and "In My Dream". CD also features the bonus track "The Girl Who Used To Be Me".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

One of the classics, and an album that's filled with a sense of majesty and power that will knock you dead – despite the stupid cover of Stevie sitting on a hill, playing in the dirt! By this point, Stevie knows he's on top of the world – and he's honing the sophisticated experiments ... CD

Teddy Pendergrass

Joy
Elektra, 1988. Used
A definite joy from the legendary Teddy Pendergrass – a late 80s album, but one that manages to still stay in all the best territory of his classic early solo work! Like a rare few from his generation, Teddy never gets overwhelmed by some heavier R&B production – that more ... CD

Wonderful mellow work from Sam Cooke – and a set that's recorded with a sound that's very much in keeping with the "night beat" that you might expect from the title! In fact, there's not so much a "beat" as a simple easy groove – a gentle sort of "night" ... CD
