If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Used CD Grade
We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD".
This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer
Used CDs in the best shape possible.
When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the
lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves),
and the booklet to be in good shape.
Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or
defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs —
so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.
All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws.
If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine
that it plays correctly —
and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.
A great 2CD set – one that contains every track Lester recorded for Aladdin – including the rare 1942 trio session with Nat Cole and a 1946 date Helen Humes. This version also includes 8 bonus tracks recorded for Norgran in 1946 with Nat King Cole and Buddy Rich. 48 tracks in all! CD
Includes the songs "D. B. Blues", "Lester Blows Again", "These Foolish Things", "Jumpin' At Mesner's", "It's Only A Papermoon", "After You've Gone", "Lover Come Back To Me", "Jammin' With Lester", "You're Driving ... CD
A set with the date of 1956 very firmly planted in the title – but one that's also gone onto become a timeless ensemble session from Verve Records! The feel here is almost in jam session mode, but perhaps a bit tighter – a group of all-star players from the mid-50s, with Lester Young ... CD
Lester Young joins the Oscar Peterson trio – and the result is a classic meeting of the minds from early 50s Verve! Young's tone is tremendous throughout – that sharp-yet-cool style that had such a big influence on other 50s players, and which gets some great support here from Peterson' ... CD
Great ensemble material recorded by the Commodore label in New York – features Lester Young on tenor sax and clarinet, Buck Clayton on trumpet, Freddie Green on guitar, Joe Bushkin on piano, Walter Page on bass, and Jo Jones on drums. 22 tracks in all, including lots of alternate takes. CD
An early trio session by Lester Young – recorded with Buddy Rich on drums! The record also features an obscure pianist named "Aye Guy" – Nat King Cole under another name! Guy and Young trade lines in a very nicely relaxed format, and even though the record's mostly all ... CD
Beautifully laidback blowing from the great Ben Webster – captured here in perfect late 50s formation, with wonderful rhythm support from the Oscar Peterson Trio! The tunes aren't super-long, but still have a relatively open feel – possibly improvised in the studio, with a mellow but ... CD
A fantastic collection that has the pianist working in variety of small group settings. Notable sidemen include Curly Russell, George Duvivier, Lloyd Trotman, Percy Heath and Ray Brown on bass; Art Blakey, Art Taylor, Buddy Rich, Kenny Clarke, Max Roach and Osie Johnson on drums. CD
