C'est Chic

LP (Item 4861) Atlantic, 1978 — Condition: Very Good+
A massive set from the legendary Chic – and a set that has the dancefloor combo coming down perfectly throughout! Riffing Nile Rodgers guitars really make the tunes cook – as does the superb production – and although the record played plenty in discos and radios of the mainstream, it's still got a raw funky power that holds up brilliantly over the years! The set features the legendary "Le Freak" – a classic cutting track from the old school – plus "I Want Your Love", "Sometimes You Win", "Savoir Faire", "Happy Man", and "(Funny) Bone".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover has light wear.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Goody Goody

Goody Goody
Atlantic, 1978. Very Good
Excellent work from this one-off group arranged and produced by Vince Montana! The feel's more in the mode of some of Patrick Adams' disco work for P&P than Montana's usual groove – with a sweet jazzy touch, and a warm soulful groove that pushes the album way past most of its ... Patches
Atlantic, 1970. Near Mint-

Aretha Franklin

Aretha's Gold
Atlantic, 1969. Very Good
It's hard to believe that after just a few short years of recording for Atlantic records, Aretha Franklin could come up with enough gold records to warrant a full album of hits for the label – but that's definitely the case with this classic collection from 1969! The fantastic evolution of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Margie Joseph

Sweet Surrender
Atlantic, 1974. Very Good+
Margie Joseph gets a hipper treatment than on earlier records – a mix of east coast styles that adds in some Philly and early modern mellow arrangements, both of which provide a great contrast to Margie's southern-tinged vocals! The approach here is great – a fulling up and fleshing ... LP, Vinyl record album

Margie Joseph

Margie
Atlantic, 1975. Near Mint-
The third album in Margie Joseph's early 70s run for Atlantic Records – and like the rest, a batch of super-tight tunes arranged and produced by Arif Mardin – done with the same sense of sophisticated soul he was bringing to the work of Aretha Franklin at the time! Margie's nicely a ... LP, Vinyl record album

A sweet 70s classic from Roberta Flack – recorded with a mellow jazzy undercurrent that really fits the spirit of the title! Roy Ayers

Lifeline
Polydor, 1977. Very Good+ Gatefold
One of Roy Ayers' best-remembered albums of the 70s – a sublime blend of mellow numbers and some of his more club-oriented grooves of the time – all wrapped together with a genius that we can only describe as Ayers-like! The album's a beautiful example of the balance that Roy was ... LP, Vinyl record album
