Used CD Grade

We use the all-encompassing grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or packaging details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the CD. This might include, but isn't limited to, scratches, tracks that skip, case/insert damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Betty Wright

Live
TK/Rhino, 1978. Used
A fantastic live album from the great Betty Wright – and one of the few recorded documents of the way that classic soul singers would evolve the nature of their songs in a concert setting! Betty's recording for Alston/TK here, but the mode she uses is one that would grace countless ... CD
Rhino, 1970s/Early 80s. Used
The underground of Chicago explodes in the mainstream – as Rhino offers the world a dozen soul tunes lifted from the city's hot steppers scene of the past 10 years. (Never mind the fact that by the time this one came out from Rhino, the stepping scene in the city was not what it had been ... CD

Live At The Watts Jazz Festival Vol 1
Rhino/Avenue, 1973. Used
An interesting historical document, and a pretty decent live set – in the same soul mixed-bag style as the Wattstax live albums. This one was recorded at the Watts Jazz Fest in 1973, and it features two great tracks by Willie Bobo – one a mellow reading of Jobim's "Dindi", ... CD

Sexy is right! Hank may have been a half-pint wonder, but he had a voice that was like no other – high and raspy, but with a fierce growl that made you instantly take notice. Plus, his thuggish aproach to vocals really put a bit into the vicious R&B tunes that he cut with The ... CD

Tower Of Power

East Bay Grease
Rhino, 1970. Used
CD...$9.99 11.99
One of the first albums from Tower Of Power – and one of the funkiest, too – a set that really has the group working in a loose, spontaneous mode that's totally great – steeped in all the best elements of southern soul, but forged with a new sort of energy in the Bay Area scene at ... CD

Ray Charles

Genius After Hours
Atlantic/Rhino (Japan), 1956. Used
A later Atlantic Records set from Ray Charles – a record that does a lot more to show off the jazz side of his talents than some of his earlier work! Ray plays piano, and works in a few different small combos – with players who include Joseph Bridgewater and John Hunt on trumpets, ... CD
