Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

MCA, Late 80s/Early 90s. Used
The best work by Guy – one of those soul groups that showed up on the scene just when we'd lost faith in soul groups, and breathed whole new life into the harmony format! The trio was a key part of Teddy Riley's new jack sound – but they had a deeper quality that's helped them last ... CD

Louis Jordan

Best Of Louis Jordan
MCA, Mid 40s-Mid 50s/1975. Used
A great collection of Jordan's material from the mid 40s to the mid 50s – starting with his jazzy numbers of the earlier years, and moving into the more blues/rock 'n roll sound of later recordings. His band always sounds great and it also sounds like they're having a good time especially ... CD

MCA/Chess, Late 50s/Early 60s. Used 2CD
A great two disc collection packed with goodies – includes 49 tracks. CD
MCA, Mid 70s. Used
Sure, you've heard a lot of these cuts a million times – but honestly, it's still great to hear Rufus and Chaka, whatever the setting! The set dips back into the ABC recordings by the group, and features tracks from the years 1974 to 1979. Titles include "You Got The Love", "S ... CD

One of the few cases in the history of pop music where the record is worth all the hype! Marvin blew everyone's mind when he unleashed this amazing suite of political soul tunes – not only just because he'd moved past the simple love songs of earlier years, but also because he was working ... CD

Sly & The Family Stone

Fresh
Epic, Early 70s. Used
Sly's leaping into the air on the cover of this one – and for good reason too, given the overall groove of the set! The album's a bit more stripped-down and upbeat than the previous few – almost more of a return to the simple funky style of the first albums, but with a slightly more ... CD
Warner, 1993. Used
A really well-titled set from Frankie Beverly & Maze – as the album takes the group right back to the mellow-stepping sound that first made them great back in the 70s! Production's a bit more updated, but still very laidback – and there's a smoothly-grooving glow to the record we ... CD

Boz Scaggs

Silk Degrees
Columbia, 1976. Used
Blue-eyed soul from Boz Scaggs, with a decidedly Philly influenced sound to the production, which we'd hazard a guess comes more from the Hall & Oates side of town than the Sigma Sound axis. Still, this is a solid album with the irresistible hit "Lowdown", still a favorite around ... CD
