Used CD Grade
We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD".
This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer
Used CDs in the best shape possible.
When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the
lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves),
and the booklet to be in good shape.
Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or
defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs —
so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.
All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws.
If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine
that it plays correctly —
and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.
A sweet bit of modern funk from George Duke – working here in a mode that's definitely tighter and more soul-based than his trippier albums of the early 70s – but also in a groove that's pretty darn sweet! George wonderfully blends together his jazz roots and some of the wider soul ... CD
The Hackett Horn gets a great spotlight here – in a classic mid 50s LP that pulls together earlier 78s recorded by Bobby at the end of the 30s! Modes are mostly traditional, but Hackett's cornet work really shines throughout – bursting out of mid-sized groups that are often driven by a ... CD
Beautiful beautiful early work from Dave Pike – a cascading array of vibes and piano – stretched out over some longer tracks that skip with a lyrical and modal groove throughout! Dave's working here with a group that includes Bill Evans on piano, Herbie Lewis on bass, and Walter ... CD
Excellent early work by Lee Ritenour – tight and soulful, but not as slick or commercial as later records! The album's an all-star, all-soul fusion effort – with work by Harvey Mason on drums, Dave Grusin and Patrice Rushen on keyboards, and Tom Scott on reeds – and the whole ... CD
Tom Scott blows it out strongly here – really hitting the right sort of smooth jazzy vibe to make the album one of his classics from the 70s! As on all Tom's work, the reed sound is still nice and sharp – that edge that appeared way back when Tom was doing great studio work in his ... CD
An excellent bit of soul jazz – completely rare in the original pressing, and one of the few early albums ever cut by organist Melvin Rhyne! Rhyne first came to prominence as the organist with Wes Montgomery – and he hailed from Montgomery's hometown of Indianapolis, and had the ... CD
A mixture of classic vocal and instrumental performances – mid 50s work from his Paris sessions, and mid 60s material that includes piano from Bob James and Hank Jones, and guitar from Kenny Burrell! CD
D An inspiring set from pianist Donald Brown– working here in a group that features some especially nice work from Gary Bartz and Eddie Henderson! Bartz plays soprano and alto sax, Henderson trumpet and flugelhorn – and both players fill the album with soulful colors and well-spun ... CD
Great stuff by Max Roach – and 2 albums that prove what a great talent he had for finding other lesser-known jazz players! The first album in the set features Max's trio with an amazing piano player named Hasaan – one that we can't find on any other records, and who has a power and ... CD
Bill Withers' second "best of" collection for Columbia – and like the other one, this set features tracks from his earlier years at Sussex, plus some numbers cut for Columbia. Great stuff throughout – from the more recent smooth mellow soul of "Just The Two Of Us" ... CD
Brilliant work by one of our favorite NuSoul singers! N'Dambi's moving way past her Little Lost Girls Blues album on this set – a beautiful 2CD set that showcases a much more expansive musical vision than before! The set's got the feel of a laidback studio session with N'Dambi – as ... CD
