Jungle Fever/Cha Ka Cha

7-inch (Item 4851) Polydor, 1973 — Condition: Near Mint-
Out Of Stock

7-inch, Vinyl record

✈

Massive funkiness from the early 70s! "Jungle Fever" is one of those cuts that we never tire of – with pounding slow funk drums that still send a shiver down our spine. "Cha Ka Cha" is a slow Latin groover – with almost an LA Chicano funk sound.  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(In a Polydor sleeve with a bit of pen, including jukebox strips.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

2 of James Brown's best duets – on one original funky 45! "What My Baby Needs Now" is a sweet soul groove, with a nice swinging midtempo pace. "This Guy-Girl" is probably the most soulful version of the Bacharach track you'll ever hear! Both sides nice, and not on any ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

An excellent funky number from the mid 70s, and proof that James was still going strong! The track has a mellow snapping easy funk groove, with some great bubbling keyboards, and very positive lyrics from James. Nice part two, too! 7-inch, Vinyl record

"Reality" is a pretty nice one – the title track to the album of the same name, and a political funk number that begins with sirens and city noises, then rolls into an uptempo groove that's got a bit of a "Living For The City" kind of feel. "I Need Your Love" is ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Funky! This oft-overlooked funky number features James shouting "pick up on this" a few times at the beginning – no instrumentation, just shouted vocals, in a great way that's excellent for dropping into a mix! The groove is in that bouncy style he was using in the 75/76 years, ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

"King Heroin" is one of James' most enduring songs of the 70s – and although it's not as funky as some of the others, it's got an incredibly soulful political message that's still extremely compelling today. The flip's got a nice version of the song's theme, too. 7-inch, Vinyl record

The Godfather at the height of his powers! The track's a killer 2-part heavy funk track – with a riffing vamp that you'll recognize immediately, and loads of tight work from the JBs! The stuff that funky legends are made of – and funky all the way through! 7-inch, Vinyl record
Polydor, 1972. Near Mint-
An oft-forgotten funky classic from James! The track's a monster – with this wah-wah beat that's flanged all over the place, yet is still as tight as a pair of pants with a 26 inch waist! The groove is prime JBs early 70s – and James is shoutin and callin the groove over the top! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Nice stuff from James! "Public Enemy" is a wonderful track, with a long spoken monologue that shows a great side of James' progressive ideas. Nice message about heroin, and a good backing with a mellow feel. Even better is "My Thang", a nice hard funky track that's James' ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
