Poquito Soul/Pata Pata

7-inch (Item 48475) Double Shot, Late 60s — Condition: Near Mint-
Just Sold Out!

7-inch, Vinyl record

❔

A great bit of jazzy funk! "Poquito Soul" has a sly Latinish groove – bass stepping out in the front, while vibes dance around and make way for a funky flute that works against the snapping of the snare! A really catchy track – one that sounds like the best work by The Aquarians – and it's backed by a cover of "Pata Pata" that has this wailing alto sax that sounds almost animalistic!  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

People, 1972. Near Mint-
An excellent hard-to-find track by Lyn Collins! "Me & My Baby" has a wonderful gospelly intro, similar to "Message to the Soul Sisters", which then leaps into a great groove with a nice hard soul hook! The flip has sort of a nice Muscle Shoals-ish sound, with some good ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Soul International, Early 70s. Near Mint-
Beautiful mellow soul from one of the 70's least-recognized talents. Larry Saunders had a beautiful jazz-tinged style that sounded a bit like Donny Hathaway or Stevie Wonder, but which also had more of an east coast indie soul vibe to it. The Steelers were one of the best harmony groups to ever come out of Chicago, and although they never broke as big as some of their east coast counterparts, they cut some pretty darn nice singles in their day – including this one! Great stuff from one of the 70s' best vocal groups! "Seems Like" is stone mellow east coast harmony soul, with a sweet ballad style. "Town Called Nowhere" is even better, and has a nice choppy guitar, and a good midtempo groove. Very nice! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Clarence Reid

Winter Man/Funky Party
Alston, 1974. Near Mint-
Nice soul work from Clarence Reid – recorded after he'd begun his raunchy party career as Blowfly, but very much in the southern soul tradition in which he started. "Winter Man" is a nice midtempo groover with some good organ under the vocals – but "Funky Party" is ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
