Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Milestone/OJC, 1971. Used
An excellent rare session from Joe – recorded in Japan, and featuring the kind of electric piano grooves that work great with his sweet reed sound of the early 70s. The group's a Japanese trio, with Motohiko Hino on drums, and Hideo Ichikawa on electric piano – and the cuts all have ... CD

A fantastic session of 60s "new thing" jazz – and one of our favorite early records by Joe Henderson! The album features some incredibly hard playing from Joe – with a very dark edge to his solos that's nicely offset by McCoy Tyner's lyrical piano, and the supple rhythms of ... CD
Verve, 1991. Used

Smokin' At The Half Note
Verve, 1965. Used

Verve, Late 50s. Used
A rare Verve outing by Yusef Lateef – recorded during a stretch that was arguably his most creative point! The album's got an approach that's a bit more in the Prestige mode of Lateef's career – in that it features a fair bit of tenor sax work, blown with a straighter soul bop approach ... CD

JJ Johnson

Let's Hang Out
Verve, 1993. Used
One of the key efforts from JJ Johnson's comeback years of the early 90s – a session recorded with some excellent tenor work from Ralph Moore and Jimmy Heath – both of whom cut a groove nicely next to JJ's trombone! The style here is almost an extension of the best Johnson work as a ... CD

Stan Getz & JJ Johnson

Stan Getz

Mickey One
MGM/Verve, Mid 60s. Used
An excellent one from Getz – recorded here as the lead soloist over backings composed by Eddie Sauter, designed to accompany the film Mickey One, an early directorial effort from Arthur Penn (and starring Warren Beatty as well!) The score has a very edgey quality to it, and Getz's playing is ... CD
