On Kloud 9 (UK pressing)

CD (Item 483474) Expansion (UK), 2002 — Condition: Used
Out Of Stock

CD

A great bit of smooth modern soul from Kloud 9 – an American duo with a sound that's reminiscent of the mellow Isley Brothers work of the late 70s and early 80s! These guys are totally great – warm, soulful, and in a mode that male vocalists hardly seem to match these days – voices drifting back and forth with effortless ease, yet also hitting a deeper approach that keeps things going very strong – mixed with keyboards for a sweetly soulful groove all the way through. The album features guest production by Bluey of Incognito and Ray Hayden of Opaz, a guest appearance by Incognito, duet vocals with Karen Bernod – but the real strength lies in the work of Kloud 9, a great pair of singers we hope to hear more from! Titles include "Never Knew", "If You Ever", "Let's Not Lose", "Priority", "Soul Mate", "Promise", "With Me", "Make You Mine", "Mercy Of Your Love", "A Moment", and "On Kloud 9".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Wonderful work from Kloud 9 – one of the classiest soul acts around, and one of the few who really know how to make the male duo style work! The mix of vocals here is totally great – a smooth, fluid approach that slinks around the gentle rhythms of the set nicely, but never in ways ... CD
Expansion (UK), 2004. Used
A very fitting title – as it's been a long time since we've heard from Alyson, and it's about time too! There's a sweetly seductive feel here that we don't remember from Alyson's older work – a mellower, more chilled out approach that slinks around with a slow and often jazzy groove ... CD

Better Day

A surprisingly nice record from Omari Shabazz – modern slow jam material with a strong quiet storm feel, lots of bass at the bottom, slow and slinky beats, and Omari's vocals sliding over the top. At times, the album seems about to slide into cliche – but it's actually pretty great ... CD

The first set we've heard from Don E in a few years – but it's really been worth the wait, as he's really deepened his sound on this set! Some of the more mainstream modes of Don's previous work have been shaken off nicely – and his overall vibe's a bit hipper this time around, and ... CD
