If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Used CD Grade
We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD".
This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer
Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play
without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove,
you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not,
then you may return it for a full refund.
With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of
surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be
clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we
handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted
otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so
look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.
Spinna bats it out of the park with this one – and lands himself a well-deserved spot in the 21st Century soul stratosphere! We've loved Spinna's work on remixes and other projects for years – and although his Beat Generation album was great, this set is amazingly even better – a ... CD
An excellent bit of modern soul – a smooth seductive album that fits perfectly with an older mellow groove, but which also sparkles with the best recent efforts of the past decade. Maxwell's got a wonderful vocal style – reminding us a bit of classic Isley Brothers, Leon Ware, or O'Jay ... CD
A great bit of NuSoul from Musiq Soulchild – warm, beat-heavy, and with a sinewy vocal style that reminds us a bit of D'Angelo, but harder. The album's Musiq's second – and it's another proud statement from the current Philly underground, the kind of modern day soul that's transforming ... CD
Sublime work from a truly amazing artist – one who both sings and plays acoustic bass – all in a captivating blend of jazz, soul, and Brazilian styles! Esperanza Spalding has a fresh, unique feel that's all her own – the warmth of a jazz singer like Carmen Lundy, the sharper ... CD
Fantastic sounds from Monday Michiru – quite possibly her greatest album in years, and one that really draws together all the best elements of her style! The vocals are wonderful – soaring, fluid, and filled with soul – almost more confident than ever – and set to these ... CD
Warm and jazzy tracks – courtesy of German trumpeter Till Bronner, who plays muted trumpet and flugelhorn with really wonderful tone! Till takes the older sound of players like Art Farmer or Chet Baker, and fuses it with some arrangements that bear traces of more recent smooth jazz work ... CD
Ok so she's got a Grammy – but that makes us love her even more! Jill Scott is one of the greatest soul artists to emerge in the past decade – and this second album avoids the usual "sophomore slump" by showing a whole new side of her talents! Disc one is a great live set ... CD
A great debut from Anthony Toombs – a Milwaukee soul singer who slaved away as a maintenance engineer during the day, while cutting this totally sweet album at night! The album's got a classic sort of male soul vibe all the way through – not 60s or 70s, but that best warm approach of ... CD
Tripped-out soul from Cody Chestnutt – a double-CD set that's an instant classic! Cody's sound is really unique – a lo-fi blend of styles that stretches back to Sly Stone and Shuggie Otis, with elements of the current Philly underground, bits of crispy hip hop production, and even some ... CD
