12-inch, Vinyl record

"Le Spank" is probably the most successful track ever by this Rinder/Lewis side project – and for good reason, too! The cut's got a cool moogy groove that pops across the top nicely, a bit sparer than the rest of its disco contemporaries, and with a catchiness that's undeniable! This 12" version is over 10 minutes long, too!  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Back in the day, Chicago never had much of a rap scene – which is why it was so easy for Chicago radio DJ Casper to score big with this little groover on the AVI label! The cut's actually not bad as sort of a funky clubby track – and Casper's rapping style reminds us a lot of Gary Byrd ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

What can we say? Despite the stupid appearance of the band, "White Horse" was a classic breakdance/electro track that crossed over so big it had kids in Kansas running out to by parachute pants and squares of linoleum to play along with the kids in the Bronx. A great bass-heavy groover from The Gap Band – pulled off one of their best albums ever, Gap Band IV! The cut's got some really great funky bits on the bottom – acoustic piano wrapped around some more electric rhythms, in a blend that keeps the track as soulful as it is catchy! 12-inch, Vinyl record

A nice stripped down bit of early Chicago house, super raw drum machine house beats with just a touch of vocals and synth thrown into the mix here and there, by Farley. 12-inch, Vinyl record

"Spend The Night" is lifted from Guy's first album, and pumped up a bit by Teddy Riley – who adds in some great New Jack beats with a really sinister dark edge. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Obscure mid 80s work by The Whatnauts – recorded after "Help is On The Way". The first two tracks are more in an 80s groove/funk mode – not really the best style for the group – but the cut "All I Need" is really a gem! The track's a smooth mellow love song ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
