Feel The Beat – Afro Funk

CD (Item 482095) Big Sur (Italy), 2006 — Condition: Used
$8.99 ...

CD

An excellent modern take on the Afro Funk genre of the 70s – one that's filled with work by current groups who really get the classic sound right! As in the older work of Fela, there's plenty of percussion, keyboards, and horns in the mix here – often played straight and live, as on the older records, and with a solidly soulful sound that would be bound to make the great one proud! A few tracks go for a slightly more modern production approach, but always still keep the overall feel of the tune just right – and the set's one that you'll proudly put next to your older Afro Funk records, as proof that the sound lives on today, when placed in the right hands. Titles include "Mama Don't Want No Gun (Beatfanatic rmx)" by Kokolo, "NESTA 75" by Antibalas, "Diggin" by Ras, "Elephant" by Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, "Lagos Sound System" by Les Barons, "Un Tour Du Monde (inst mix)" by Love & Salt, "Cheney Lane" by Nostalgia 77, "The Name Of Fela Will Always Stand For Freedom" by The Jetsons with Jessica Lauren, "Take Time To Change Your Mind (Faze Action rmx)" by Quantic Soul Orchestra, and "See Line Woman" by Femm Nameless.  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Bombay grooves, but not just the disco promised in the title – as these cuts come mostly from the 80s years of Bollywood, and show Indian funk moving into a great new realm of styles! There's definitely a disco vibe at the core – and as in other scenes, the style stayed current a lot ... CD

A fantastic record from DJ Cam! The album's a soulful return to his roots – dropping the heavy hip hop style of recent albums, and making a move to warmer, more soulful territory. The mix of beats and keyboards is great – with plenty of super-dope laidback moments that feel like they'r ... CD
