Trax Records – 20th Anniversary Collection Mixed By Maurice Joshua & Paul Johnson (3CD set)

CD (Item 482075) Trax, 1980s — Condition: Used
3CDs
$14.99 ...

CD

A tremendous celebration of one of the greatest house music labels ever – the mighty Trax Records, the Chicago home to some of the music's greatest work of the 80s! The 3CD set is a really massive package – featuring 2 CDs that offer live mixing of 34 of the label's classic tunes – plus a full bonus disc that includes an additional 12 tracks, unmixed! The feel is great throughout – with the stripped-down, no-nonsense, back-to-back mixing style that you'd often hear in the glory days of the Chitown scene – a straight-running set of house grooves that includes "Bring Down The Walls" by Robert Owens, "No Way Back" by Adonis, "House This House" by Mr Lee, "Can You Feel It (alternate)" by Mr Fingers, "Can't Get Enough" by Liz Torres, "In A Vision" by Virgo Four, "Washing Machine" by Mr Fingers, "House Music Anthem" by Frankie Knuckles presents Marshall Jefferson, "This Is Acid" by Maurice, "I'll Never Let You Go" by William S, "Children Of The Night (radio)" by Kevin Irving, "Acid Tracks" by Phuture, and "7 Ways To Jack (full version)" by Hercules.  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Out of print.)

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Numero, Early 80s. Used
Not much of a cover photo, but one of the most amazing collections so far from the Numero Group – a richly archival project that finally brings to light the lost efforts of the short lived Tap Records label! Tap was the brainchild of Jeremiah Yisrael – an ambitious producer, and ... CD
Brown Sugar (Germany), 1970s. Used
Don't let the Euro-looking guys on the cover put you off, because this is one massively soulful set – filled with jazzy grooves that are mostly from the good ol' US of A! Most of the work here is from the super-deep Fantasy Records catalog – and much of it is from the 70s too – ... CD
Blue Note, 1960s/Early 70s. Used
A really wonderful collection of grooves that first came to light in the 90s – one that had the Blue Note label digging back in their catalog and completely re-thinking their approach to reissues – given the new popularity of jazz in the hip hop sample world! As you'd guess from the ... CD
Soul Patrol (France), Early 70s. Used
Funky madness all over the place! This tasty set from Soul Patrol is one of their most solid collections of funky 45s in years – and it's got a slightly different bent than usual, going for a tight bass-heavy groove that reminds us of early Kool & The Gang, and which has a great little ... CD
How Do You Are (Germany), 2019. Used
One of the coolest volumes in this always-great series – and one that's a bit different than the rest, and not just because the music is all in French! Previous editions all focused on older music from the glory days of AOR and smooth soul production – but the tracks here are all ... CD
Big Beat (UK), Late 60s. Used
Groovy, moddish, magnificent and sunny girl pop from The Land Of The Rising Sun – pummeling drums, jumping arrangements and groovy vocals from the mid-to-late 60s Japanese scene! This is fantastic stuff, any kitch or novelty appeal you might be expecting is kind of muted by the exceptional ... CD
Blue Note, Late 50s/Early 60s. Used
No blues, but very much in the pocket – thanks to a killer collection of classics from the mighty Blue Note label! The set's straight jazz all the way through – but all that near-perfect Blue Note quality from the label's most classic years – that stretch when its artists were ... CD

Expansion (UK), Late 70s/Early 80s. Used
Not the kind of record you'd bring to a yoga class, as you might think from the title – but instead a really joyous celebration of soulful club music – pulled together with a host of disco classics from the late 70s and early 80s! These aren't the big hits of the time, but instead some ... CD

Pat Metheny/Ornette Coleman

Song X
Geffen, 1986. Used
At the height of his success, Pat tries to prove to the world that he's still got cred – and hooks up with Ornette, Charlie Haden, and Denardo Coleman for a little bit of harmelodic jamming. Thing is, we actually liked the slick stuff better! Titles include "Mob Job", "Video ... CD

Charles Mingus

New Tijuana Moods
Bluebird/RCA, 1957/1986. Used
Oh how we love this one! This killer 2LP set takes one of Mingus' best-ever records, and makes it even better! The original Tijuana Moods album was recorded in 1957 but not released until 1962 – and the record features one of Mingus' strongest groups ever, with Shafi Hadi on alto and ... CD
