Brazilian Soul

CD (Item 481949) Far Out (UK), 2004 — Condition: Used
$19.99 ...

CD

Originally: 24.99
It's been 30 years since Azymuth first took the Brazilian jazz scene by storm – and in that time, they've never let up a minute! From their initial tripped-out recordings to their soulful dancefloor classics, California fusion, and recent London gems, the group's never faltered a bit – and has always served up an incredible blend of Brazilian rhythms and funky fusion with a very soulful finish! This album marks the group's 30th year in jazz, and it's one of their best of the past 20 – a sublime effort that's dripping with warm keyboard lines, grooving with spacey rhythms, and overflowing with great help from guest singers and musicians that include Roberto Menescal, Emilio Santiago, Marcio Lott, Fabiola, Ze Carlos,Leo Gandleman, and Roc Hunter! The Brazilian Soul title is extremely fitting – as the group manages to groove with a soulful undercurrent, yet never sounds too slick or too held back – as is evidenced by the really free-flowing keyboard work on the set. Titles include "Sem Destino", "Biaozinho Carioca", "Depois De Carnival", "O Lance", "Te Querendo", "Sambafrica", "Roda Piao", "Pra Ze", and "Estatico".  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Used CD Grade

We use the all-encompassing grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or packaging details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the CD. This might include, but isn't limited to, scratches, tracks that skip, case/insert damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Tania Maria

Taurus
Concord/Picante, 1982. Used
CD pressing of one of Tania Maria's sweet early LPs for Concord, with a nice modern Brazilian groove that differs from her earlier bossa LPs from the 70's, but which still has a beautiful melodic fusion feel to it. Slow Motion Bossa Nova certainly fits this one – a beautiful album of lush jazzy arrangements, done in the 60s style of artists like Roberto Menescal or Lalo Schifrin, but with added touches of soulful vocals by Celso Fonseca. The assemblage of musicians on the record is great – and ... CD

Warner (Brazil), 1982. Used
A great early 80s set from Gilberto Gil – and one that has him fully assuming the soul singer mode that would carry him strongly through the rest of the decade! There's still a samba soul sense of funk at the core, but the overall instrumentation is a bit fuller and more electric – a ... CD
