A great later album from Sonny Fortune – still as wonderful here as he was in the 70s! Sonny blows alto, soprano, and flute – and the group also features work from Kenny Barron on piano, Jerry Gonzalez on trumpet, Robin Eubanks on trombone, and Billy Hart on drums! Titles include "Mind Games", "Laying It Down", "Awakening", "A Swing Touch", "Never Again Is Such A Long Time", "It Ain't What It Was", "It's A Bird", "Tribute To Holiday" and "Long Before Our Mothers Cried".  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Out of print.)

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

John Coltrane's classic – and only – recording as a leader for Blue Note! The album's no throwaway date, though – as it stands strongly with both Coltrane's other label work of the time, and with the best of the late 50s Blue Note scene – a time when the label was really ... CD

Jack DeJohnette

Earth Walk
Blue Note, 1991. Used
A post-ECM set from drummer Jack DeJohnette – one that's got a bit more electricity in the mix than before, yet which still has that great sense of energy that Jack gave us with his Special Edition group! The lineup here is youthful – Greg Osby on alto and soprano sax, Gary Thomas on ... CD

The lyrical genius at his best! Horace plays with a tight quintet that includes Donald Byrd, Hank Mobley, Doug Watkins, and Louis Hayes. Stanley Turrentine's no spoiler here – as his tenor sax soars out over the top of some sweet larger group arrangements from Duke Pearson – all awash in a great sense of soul, joy, and life! The album's got a much brighter feel than you might guess from the cover – a vibe that's a ... CD

Horace Silver
