Drumsville

LP (Item 478716) Liberty, Early 60s — Condition: Near Mint-
Kick-ass, drum-heavy instrumentals from Earl Palmer – the player who made some of David Axelrod's work sound great in the late 60s, but who's hitting even harder here! The style's a mix of rock instrumental and R&B modes – with pounding drums from Palmer on all numbers, and bits of sax, guitar, and occasional chorus vocals too. Titles include "What'd I Say", "Honky Tonk (part 2)", "One Mint Julep", "Raunch", "Whole Lotta Shakin Goin On", and "Teen Beat".  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Stereo pressing. Cover has light wear, aging, and a name in marker in back.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

The birth of a sound and the birth of a legend – Martin Denny's first album in the Exotica series, and a record so great it named an entire genre! Taste Of Honey
Liberty, Mid 60s. Very Good
A great later moment from Martin Denny – a set that gave him a big 60s hit in a sweet version of "Taste of Honey"! Reprise, 1969. Near Mint-
An amazing document of adult love – as important to the easy generation as Barry White's work was to the soul crowd – and the kind of record that makes you willing to throw away all your prejudices about Rod McKuen! Shango! Night In A Quiet Village
Medallion/Kapp, Early 60s. Very Good+
A nice little bit of exotica – with a dreamy island feel that mixes organ, electric guitar, vibes, flutes, and percussion – in a groove that's almost like that of a surf combo gone easy, as you might guess from the name of the group. A really great self-titled set from Emitt Rhodes – a compelling California singer who hardly ever gets his due!
