From E-Man Groovin. (In an Atlantic Disco sleeve.)

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A disco classic that you'll recognize immediately – served up in the original 11 minute mix! Saturday Night Fever did a lot towards helping push "Disco Inferno" over the top – but honestly, even without that help, the tune would have taken over most of the 70s on its own ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

A killer 12" of "Funky Sensation" – a snapping little 80s groover that's one of her best cuts ever! The track's a legend – with a big role in the history of hip hop, street parties, club music, roller skating, and countless other scenes – and it's one of those that ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Sleeping Bag, 1981. Very Good
A classic club track from the early 80s! The cut was written by Leroy Burgess, and it's got a cool keyboard-driven sound that's almost electro, but which is infused with more elements of the New York club sound of the time. The hook is incredible, and Larry Levan mixed the extended version on ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Doobie-doo doobie-doo! One of the catchiest Roy Ayers dancefloor tracks ever – a bassy bumping thumper that wonderfully skirts the line between clubby and funky! The track's got female vocals singing along with the hook – all in a mode that's quite similar to the most uptempo work by ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Cotillion, 1980. Near Mint-
A tight little pop tune from Slave – perhaps less of a full funk workout than some of their other tracks, but with some sweetly compressed vocals that give the number a nice nice hook! 12-inch, Vinyl record
