The Skyy posse is at it again – crafting that ensemble funk groove that was the group's trademark sound at the time, pushing things to the top in a blend of disco, 80s groove, and bass-heavy funk. The silly costumes are still in place – and the 8 member group's pretty darn tight on the instrumental tip. Titles include "Here's To You", "Superlove", "My Sun Won't Shine", "For The First Time", and "Arrival". (Cover has light wear.)  © 1996-2016, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Salsoul, 1977. Very Good+
An early hit for Salsoul Records – a set of extended European disco tracks, all building in a nice slow, layered sort of way – then remixed by Tom Moulton for the US dancefloor! Ok, so this one's got a cheesy title – and a very cheesy cover to match – but it's a great collection that features some of the best disco tunes recorded in the early years of the Salsoul label! The set's brimming over with great numbers – and includes "My Love Is Free" ... LP, Vinyl record album

A great little club set from the enigmatic Edwin Birdsong – a artist that we first came to love for his quirky early recordings on Polydor, and his later collaborations with Roy Ayers – but who sounds equally great here in a Salsoul setting! Salsoul, 1975. Very Good-
The soaring debut of one of the greatest groups of the disco era – and one that would go onto be the sound of Salsoul Records too! One of the many obscure albums of material by The Ohio Players – material that was recorded in the late 60's by Capitol, but frequently repackaged and retitled in the early 70's to cash in on the big hit status of the band. ABC, 1973. Very Good-
Fantastic soul from Lamont Dozier – his first LP as a solo artist, and one of the best debuts of the 70s! The record has a quality that's impossible to describe accurately – but it's kind of a post-Motown full-on approach to soul that mixes strings, piano, and that wall of sound groove ...
