Bob Corwin Quartet Featuring The Trumpet Of Don Elliott

LP (Item 474702) Riverside, 1956 — Condition: Good
An early session from trumpeter Don Elliott – one that already has him working as the standout star in the quartet of pianist Bob Corwin! Elliott only plays on 8 of the album's 10 tracks, but his well-crafted trumpet lines really make the album sparkle – almost a Clifford Brown sort of sweetness and fluidity, with a sound that's quite different from some of more gimmicky sessions. Corwin's piano is pretty strong too, but it's clear from the way the session was recorded that the main spotlight's on Don Elliott – and for good reason too! Titles include "My Shining Hour", "Rico Jico Joe", "I Remember You", "Gone With The Wind", "Pony Tail", and "I'll Remember April".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Good

  • A record that you'd buy to play, cheap, but which you wouldn't buy for collecting.
  • Will have marks across all parts of the playing surface, and will most likely play with surface noise throughout. May have some other significant flaws, such as residue, or a track that skips.
  • In most cases, a poor quality copy of a very difficult to find record.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
