Completely unique work from Ben Sidran – a jazz record at the core, but one with a range of really wonderful styles in the mix! Sidran's working here with some key help from Mike Mainieri on vibes, Fender Rhodes, and co-production – and Mike's warm, round sound really brings a lot to the record – giving Ben's vocals a cool, laidback setting to really stretch out and find themselves! The album's a lot hipper than you might guess from the date – and has a unique mix of jazz and soul that's almost like some of Quincy Jones best work of the same period – but touched with that unique Sidran sense of charm.
