Narada Michael Walden at the top of his game – unleashing a sweet set of 80s grooves that are possibly more solid than his work in the 70s! Although Walden's got somewhat righteous roots, it's clear that his best strength is actually his more mainstream work – the kind of tight, catchy grooves served up on this set – awash in beats and keyboards, but also with some jazzier touches as well! Michael Gibbs serves up some great fuller arrangements on a few tracks – helping to warm things up slightly – and titles include "You're #1", "Summer Lady", "I'm Ready", "Safe In My Arms", "Confidence", and "Holiday". (Includes the original lryic sleeve. Cover has an unglued top seam & some staining. Labels have some marker.)  © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Atlantic, 1975. Very Good+ Gatefold
For too long we dismissed Roberta Flack out of hand because of her currency as a soft rock radio favorite, but her mid 70s output had more than its share of sublime, soulful moments, and this album is no exception. Of course, a generous helping hand from the left reverend Eugene McD and co-producer ... LP, Vinyl record album

Invictus, 1977. Near Mint-
A classic deep soul set from Eloise Laws – an early album recorded for Invictus Records, and done with stellar production from Brian Holland! One of two albums produced by Rudy Ray Moore – the other being The Sensuous Black Man – which define the art of making love from a gender-based perspective. Like Rudy's Sensuous Black Man, The Madam's version features one side of "instructional" dialogue – very XXX-rated ... LP, Vinyl record album

This group were one of a number to use the name Smoke during the 70s – but at some point they were forced to change their name to Black Smoke, and you'll see the record listed both ways, but with the same cover. Polydor, 1978. Very Good
Pure magic from the height of Roy Ayers' classic 70s run on Polydor – a record that's filled with warm, jazzy grooves – all served up in that unique style that Roy was forging at the time!
