Susan Sings Songs From Sesame Street

LP (Item 468101) Scepter, 1970 — Condition: Very Good+
Gatefold
One of the hippest records from the Sesame Street scene – a set of tracks that all feature vocals from the lovely Susan – aka Loretta Long! The tunes are all early gems penned by Joe Raposo – who also arranged and produced the set – and although done for a kiddie show, there's a sense of poise, class, and subtle soul on most numbers that goes way beyond their use on the show. Titles include "ABC Song", "Here Are Some Things That Belong Together", "Children", "Happiness", "Draw Me A Circle", "Right In The Middle Of My Face", and "Happy Talk".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Ok, ok, we'll admit it! When we were kids, we totally dug this hippy-dippy show and all of its insider jokes, games, and languages. An enduring classic from James Brown – quite possibly the strongest of his late 70s albums, and a record that nicely balances the harder funk of the early part of the decade with a more sophisticated style that almost gets slightly jazzy at times! The vocals are planted strongly at the top ... LP, Vinyl record album
