I'm Not A Gambler/The Devil Is Doing His Work

7-inch (Item 467626) Brunswick, 1975 — Condition: Near Mint-

(UK pressing with push-out center.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

2 excellent tracks of Chicago soul from Barbara's hard to find I Call It Trouble LP. Both tracks are great, with excellent Eugene Record production, and the kind of great songwriting that made Barbara one of the city's best talents! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Very early single by Loleatta Holloway, and with much more of a raw southern soul feel than you'll find on other records. "Rainbow" is her version of the Gene Chandler classic, and although it's pretty faithful to the original, Loleatta gives it a nice new sound. 7-inch, Vinyl record
Mellow, Late 60s. Very Good-
We don't know much about Marvin Sims other than his deep soul records from Chicago, of which this one's a gem! The track's a long 2-part mellow one, with a sound that's more southern than Chicago, and which is filled with excellent vocals by Marvin – who's got a style here that's a little ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
King, Late 60s. Very Good
A great obscure one from Bobby! The cut's an extended groover with a hard blaring "sock boogaloo" soul feel to it – and we almost never see it at all! Great vocals all the way through, and stone cold production from James! 7-inch, Vinyl record
