A lovely little soundtrack to this French travelogue film – scored by Jean Prodromides with a feel that's as light and whimsical as a journey in a balloon! Instrumentation is mostly orchestral, and often heavy on the strings – but there's also some playful woodwind passages that are quite evocative, and which almost have a neo-classical feel in their deft portrayal of little pictures in sound. Orchestrations are directed by Andre Girard, and our favorite part of the soundtrack is the main theme – which drifts in and out of some of the other tracks, always holding the music nicely to home base. Titles include "Poursuite En Bretagne", "Generique", "L'Envol", "Les Alpes", "Provence", and "Camargue". (White label promo with deep groove.)  © 1996-2016, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Casino Royale
Colgems, 1967. Very Good
One of Burt Bacharach's finest moments, and a soundtrack that we never tire of hearing! Burt wrote all the tunes – and the album's a wonderful romp, with lots of odd twists and turns that are quite different from Burt's usual bag (baby!), but which still have all of the charm of his best ... Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls
20th Century, Late 60s. Very Good+
Classic camp soundtrack to this crazy non-sequel to Valley Of The Dolls. Stu Phillps wrote most of the music, and conducted the instrumental bits, but the bulk of the material's performed by groups like The Sandpipers, Carrie Nations, and Strawberry Alarm Clock. The stuff on here's better than ... LP, Vinyl record album

United Artists, Late 60s. Very Good+
An excellent Quincy Jones score that stands head and shoulders above the soundtrack to the first film in this series, In The Heat Of The Night. Q is in fine fine form with this material – adding in a lot more funk than before, to fit the uptown theme of the film. There's lots of nice jazzy ... LP, Vinyl record album
