Love Cycles

LP (Item 465106) MCA, 1985 — Condition: Very Good+
The group's third release – and although they've dropped the space suits, they're still grooving nicely in a slightly electric mode! The sound here is heavy on keyboards and bassy bits – a very catchy 80s groove that's topped by shifting male/female vocals from the members of the trio! 10 songs in all, including: "Love Cycles", "Another Day Another Night", "Be Ready For Love", "Addict", "Cry Baby", and "Ain't Nothing Better".  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

One Way

Wrap Your Body
MCA, 1985. Very Good+
Damn, One Way never lets us down – and although the group cut many albums back in the day, all of them have some great standout moments! The groove here seems even tighter than ever, but never slick or commercial – a very important distinction, given that so many of One Way's ... LP, Vinyl record album

All Things Happen In Time
MCA, 1981. Very Good
A post-Philly International album from Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, but one that still keeps their groove very much intact – thanks to instrumental help from Norman Harris, Ron Baker, Vince Montana, Earl Young, and a host of other Sigma Sound talents! MCA, 1979. Near Mint-
A great follow-up to War's first Music Band album – and proof that the group was still plenty darn funky at the end of the 70s! Although different from their original Chicano funk groove, the style here is still totally great – long, drawn-out funk that's filled with plenty of sharp ... LP, Vinyl record album

New Edition

Under The Blue Moon
MCA, 1986. Near Mint-
New Edition show they're no Johnnies-come-lately on the harmony soul scene – and pay tribute to a host of older groups from the 50s and 70s – singing a mix of hits and soul classics in a laidback late nite mode that brings a real focus on their vocals. Given their age, there's a sound ... LP, Vinyl record album

Love Current
MCA, 1979. Very Good+
Lenny's working here with Frank E Wilson – a great producer who really understood his style of singing, and who classed up his act considerably after the early days in Tower of Power. One Way

Lady
MCA, 1984. Near Mint-
An overlooked gem from the ever-strong years of One Way – that early 80s run when the group kept on putting out great records! The vibe's changed up a bit from before, but that's one of the things that makes One Way so great – that they were kind of an evolutionary act, always drawing ... LP, Vinyl record album

Average White Band

Put It Where You Want It
MCA, 1973. Very Good+
Average White Band are most clearly associated with Atlantic Records during the 70s – and that label's genius move to record white soul acts for the crossover market – but this first album was recorded for MCA, and very much in the same vein as their later work. The record's not as ... LP, Vinyl record album

King Of Stage
MCA, 1986. Near Mint-
Bobby Brown's out to put his New Edition past firmly behind him here – stepping out in a range of pop soul numbers that still have a sound that's as fresh as his late teen look on the cover! Perfect Angel
Epic, 1974. Very Good

Herman Kelly & Life

Percussion Explosion!
Electric Cat, 1978. Sealed
The percussion-heavy soul gem from Herman Kelly & Life – recorded in both Brazil & Miami – and awash with killer drum work all the way through!
