Odetta & Larry

LP (Item 45946) Fantasy, 1955 — Condition: Very Good+
An early Odetta record where she duets with Larry Mohr for a nice selection of folk songs that have elements of the blues and country. Tracks include "John Henry", "Old Blue", "Water Boy", "Santy Ana", "The Car-Car Song", "Pay Day At Coal Creek", "I've Been 'Buked & I've Been Scorned". They sing together and have solo songs as well.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Red vinyl pressing. Cover has light wear and aging.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Sister Woman
Fantasy, 1972. Sealed
Very righteous work from Esther Marrow – an overlooked soul singer who works with a hell of a lot of pride and power! My Sweet Summer Suite
20th Century, 1976. Very Good
A wonderful album by Barry White – a bit later than some of the early 70s hits, but one of his most satisfying records overall! Isaac Hayes

Joy
Enterprise, 1973. Very Good
One of the funkiest Isaac Hayes albums for Stax – thanks mostly to the extended title cut! The tune "Joy" is a monster – running for nearly 16 minutes long, and starting with a killer drum break on the intro – then full, proud, bad-stepping Isaac Hayes grooves ... LP, Vinyl record album

Vanity 6

Vanity 6
Warner, 1982. Very Good
The only record from this group that would sort of morph into Apollonia 6, one of many Prince vehicles during the 80s.
