It's Not Love (But It's Not Bad)

LP (Item 45917) Capitol, 1972 — Condition: Very Good

An early 70s album from Hag that mostly contains slower paced country tunes, many of which have to do with lost love. As usual, The Strangers sound great, subtly providing the background for Haggard's great voice, although they do have some nice solo moments. Tracks include "It's Not Love (But It's Not Bad", "Goodbye Come Hard For Me", "I Wonder What She'll Think About Me Leaving", "A Shoulder To Cry On", "Dad's Old Fiddle" and "Somewhere To Come When It Rains".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Prime Hag, recorded during his peak song writing years in the early 70s, and one of the better LPs recorded with the Strangers! Merle's in his gentler story song mode for much of the record, but with driving Bakersfield honky tonk sound to keep things moving at a tight clip. Haggard penned ... LP, Vinyl record album

One of Hag's stellar early 70s efforts for Capitol – with the prolific Merle dividing the set between his own numbers, a handful of traditional pieces and some nice tracks by other writers. A key late 60s country crossover set, but one that also inspired a fair bit of funk as well!
