Determination/Do It

7-inch (Item 458286) Philadelphia International, Mid 70s — Condition: Very Good

(Label has an ink stamp.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Soul International, Early 70s. Near Mint-
Beautiful mellow soul from one of the 70's least-recognized talents. Larry Saunders had a beautiful jazz-tinged style that sounded a bit like Donny Hathaway or Stevie Wonder, but which also had more of an east coast indie soul vibe to it. This single contains 2 of the best tracks from his rare ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Foster Sylvers

Misdemeanor/So Close
Pride, 1972. Very Good
What can we say? This is one of the greats! Foster Sylver's "Misdemeanor" is one of the greatest-ever funky tunes from the 70s – made famous years back by a DOC sample, but loved way before that by anyone with a funky set of ears! The cut's got this incredibly strange groove ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Boo, Late 60s. Good+
Killer soul, and an undisputed harmony classic! "I Guess That Don't" is perfect late-night AM radio soul – with excellent harmonies on the chorus, and standout lead vocals that will break your heart! "Hurry, Don't Linger" is a bit more uptempo – but the cut's still ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Fabulous Counts

Dirty Red/Scrambled Eggs
Moira, Late 60s. Good+
Classic funky 45 material from these legendary Detroit groovers! Both sides are wonderful organ/sax jams – chugging along at a fast choppy pace, with cool bubbling riffs that are sort of the trademark sound of the Fab Counts. Popcorn Wylie produced both sides, and both cuts are ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Atlantic, Late 60s. Very Good
Beautiful stuff from the Sweet Inspirations! This is one of their best tracks ever – and it mixes sweet southern electric piano lines with their incredible four part female harmonies, into a swelling mix of soul that ends way too soon for our taste – even though the song is a two-parter ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Shout, Late 60s. Very Good
Freddie Scott's greatest number ever – and the song that made Biz Markie! This original version of "You Got What I Need" has a killer funky break approach – all chunky in the drums, especially on the intro, with great vocals from Freddie that show how the song's really ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
