Used Vinyl Grades
Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for

since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with

Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
A great revival of sorts for The Staple Singers – and a record that has them hitting a whole new groove to really open up their sound! Gone are the cliches of earlier albums, and in their place is a tightly-crafted approach to 80s soul – one that's clearly aimed at the dancefloor, and ... LP, Vinyl record album
An obscure little funky group from Detroit, one with a tight ensemble sound that's very much in the Earth Wind & Fire mode – complete with a really great horn section, plenty of bass-heavy grooves a the bottom, and a relatively spiritual feel that comes through strongly on the best tracks! ... LP, Vinyl record album
We're a bit confused about this one, because it's got a 1980 copyright date, but the material on the LP is clearly from the Whispers' early career (and the liner notes confirm this, but don't give much more information). Excellent harmony soul material, with tracks like "You Must Be Doing ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of the coolest Christmas albums ever – a tripped-out classic from Chicago's legendary Rotary Connection! The album's every bit as wonderful as any of the group's non-Holiday sets for Cadet Records – and maybe even has more to offer, given that the euphoria of the season is thrown ... LP, Vinyl record album
A landmark album that hardly needs any introduction – as it's one of the most famous soundtracks, if not soul records, of the 70s! Isaac Hayes had already surprised music fans with the sophistication of his first few solo albums, which had been issued before this one – but with Shaft, ... LP, Vinyl record album
An excellent soul album from the great Willie Hutch! The record's got more of a vocal focus than some of Willie's other albums – and his rich voice is perfectly set up in some sweet and soulful arrangements that have a full sound and a classy finish, but still a raw edge that keeps things ... LP, Vinyl record album
Far and above the best album by sweet soul vocalist Major Harris! Harris had knocked around for years in vocal groups during the 60s, and had even sung for a bit with The Delfonics in the early 70s – but this album is his crowning achievement, a landmark of sweet Philly soul with some ... LP, Vinyl record album
A great album that's often overlooked amidst the flurry of early 70's releases on Curtom, but which stands as one of Mayfield's greatest from the 70s! In fact, we'd say that the album's one that we enjoy putting on more than most – because the songs are less familiar, and not nearly as ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of the funkiest Isaac Hayes albums for Stax – thanks mostly to the extended title cut! The tune "Joy" is a monster – running for nearly 16 minutes long, and starting with a killer drum break on the intro – then full, proud, bad-stepping Isaac Hayes grooves ... LP, Vinyl record album
Less Curtis Mayfield tunes than usual – but the record still sounds great! The arrangements are by Johnny Pate, who handled the group's best work of the 60s – and he gives all the material a great sound that perfectly matches the smooth raspy harmonies of the trio. Curtis contributed ... LP, Vinyl record album
War did the music for this funky soundtrack to an early Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs film, and although most of the stuff on here is just typical War stuff, there's one track called "Flying Machine" that's a long funky chase scene-type track that's worth the price of the album alone! Other ... LP, Vinyl record album
By this point in his career, Archie's recording without the Drells, and has moved from Philly International onto the smaller Becket label in New York. However, he's still recording in a very similar style to his late 70s work in Philly – with a smooth grooving sound that's very seductive on ... LP, Vinyl record album
