There It Is

LP (Item 45386) Brunswick, 1972 — Condition: Very Good+

LP, Vinyl record album

❔
A great little set of instrumental tracks from Lionel Hampton – almost more soul than jazz, and set to some hipper than usual Brunswick Records arrangements – by the likes of Eugene Record, Willie Henderson, Sonny Sanders, and Hamilton Bohannon! The setting is a great showcase for Hamp's vibes – which always had plenty of punch, even back in the swing generation – and turn out to be an excellent fit for later 70s soul styles too. Bohannon turns out the best track on the album – the slow funky sample cut "Happiness", which steps along at half pace, and sounds like one of the killers from his own Stop & Go album! Other tracks are all pretty great, too – and titles include "Without You In My Life", "I Never Had It So Good", "There It Is", "Wrapped Up In Your Warm & Tender Love", and "Sing A Little Song".  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover is lightly stained and wrinkled at the bottom right corner.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
