(pic cover)

An EP of selections from the "Live & Uncensored" LP. Tracks included are "Give It Up", "All The Way Lover", "The Soaps", and "All The Way Lover (Reprise)".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has light wear.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Spring, 1978. Near Mint-
Fatback hitting the dancefloors hard with an extended boogie number – a tight groover with a lot of bass, and in the mode of the group's later Spring Records groove! 12-inch, Vinyl record
Spring, 1980. Near Mint-
King Tim makes a living past the "Personality Jock" single – sounding pretty great here calling out the shots on a hip little Roller Boogie number! The track's got a spare bounce that's pure old school all the way – and Tim makes his calls in between female vocals on the ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Eyesight/The Spank
Polydor, 1980. Very Good+ (pic cover)
One of the few James Brown 12" singles ever, and a rare promo issue that features 2 cuts from James' Jam/1980s LP. Both cuts have an uptempo funk sound, and "The Spank" is a pretty decent attempt by James to capture the modern dancefloor. 12-inch, Vinyl record
Polydor, 1979. Very Good
Uptempo funky James from the end of the 70s – aimed at the discos, but with that funky sound of earlier days still pretty much in place! In other words, there's plenty of funky instrumentation in the cuts – a bit faster than in earlier years, but still quite nice – plus ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Motown, 1986. Near Mint- (pic cover)
At the time this was issued, these tracks had not yet been released, though they've subsequently shown up on a number of the expanded CD reissues that have been put out since this release. Sadly, the totally burning funk of "The World Is Rated X" gets buried a bit in the bad 80s ... 12-inch, Vinyl record

Elektra, 1982. Very Good+
Classic early 80s electro-modern jazz crossover from Pieces Of A Dream produced by Grover Washington, that bounces along with an infectious groove that makes this an old school favorite, alongside similar numbers by Bernard Wright or Paul Hardcastle. Salsoul, 1984. Near Mint-
A beat-heavy tune from Weeks & Co – almost an electro number, as you might guess from the title – and a cut with plenty of shoulder-popping grooves! The long mix is especially nice – very upfront in the rhythms, and filled with loads of call/response lines. 12-inch, Vinyl record
Epic, 1996. Near Mint-

Love Dancin/No One Yet
Columbia, 1979. Near Mint-
"Love Dancin" is an excellent jazzy groover from Marlena! The cut's got a very different sound than some of her early work, but it's a beautifully smooth modern soul number that has her singing to some nice arrangements by Harold Wheeler. The flipside's a nice soul number, too – ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
Believe In A Dream, 1983. Very Good
Lew was one of our favorite mellow soul singers from the early 80s, and this cut's lifted from his second album, Talk To Me. The cut's got a bit of an electric riff to it, and works at a midtempo pace that would make the cut a reasonable dancefloor groover – which is why it probably got ... 12-inch, Vinyl record
