Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Smokey Robinson & The Miracles

Time Out
Tamla, 1969. Near Mint-
Kind of a mixed bag of numbers from Smokey and the group – who are clearly searching around here for a new sound that will take them into the 70s, working in a number of different modes – all of them still pretty nice, thanks to the always-great vocal talents of the group. Tamla, 1967. Very Good+
Lots of great ones – from that period when Smokey was making the group an all-male one, with a harmony sound that was a bit harder than earlier days. Titles include "Going To A Go Go", "Tracks Of My Tears", "Ooo Baby Baby", "I Second That Emotion", ... LP, Vinyl record album

Mary Wilson

Mary Wilson
Motown, 1979. Sealed
A post-Supremes disco effort from Mary Wilson – but one that comes off relatively well, especially considering how a session like this could flop if done poorly! Mary's getting some top-shelf help on the album – Hal Davis on production, Art Wright on arrangements, and a set of original ... LP, Vinyl record album

To Be Continued
Motown, 1986. Near Mint-
The Temptations are looking a bit cheesy on the cover here, but they still sound great – and the album's great proof that the group were one of the few from their generation who could always keep things up over the years! The production and instrumentation are definitely on the modern side, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Motown, 1977. Very Good
A great little concept album – and one that really shows the continuing sophistication and growth of Jerry Butler's music in the 70s! The record is dedicated to the "single girl" of the 70s (portrayed with the sad little photo of a brown bag lunch and a Gucci purse on the cover) ... LP, Vinyl record album

Eddie Kendricks

Slick
Tamla/Motown, 1977. Sealed
Smooth mellow grooves, in the style that Eddie pioneered, and which he still did better than most. The album's a great batch of tracks with production by Leonard Caston, who also produced some of Eddie's earlier works, and the set's pretty darn great all the way through. With the cuts "Someth ... Killer 3LP set that brings together just about every single track you'd ever want from Marvin's early years at Motown! Despite the fame of their big hits – like "Reach Out I'll Be There", "I Can't Help Myself", "Baby I Need Your Loving", and "It's The Same Old Song", all of which are on this set, and which have been heard ad infinitum – the Four Tops are actually ... LP, Vinyl record album
