I Wish You Love (Sunset)

LP (Item 444279) Sunset, 1960s — Condition: Very Good+

A nice collection of some of Gloria's greatest tunes from the 60s, all full of a poise and class that was almost a genre into itself – one that crossed Gloria over big with the title hit version of "I Wish You Love". Also includes "Little Girl Blue", "What Is There To Say", "Whispering Grass", "For All We Know", "Hands Across The Table", "Through A Long & Sleepless Night", "Don't Worry About Me", "I Can't Give You Anything But Love", and "The Night Has A Thousand Eyes".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has some splitting in the bottom seam.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Gloria Lynne

Gloria Lynne Calender
Hi Fi/Everest, Mid 60s. Very Good+
There's a pretty loose theme to this one – because although the album's supposed to have a "calender" concept, one in which Gloria runs through tunes for every month of the year, the adherence to this mode is a bit loose, and the choice of songs hardly reflects the months. Still, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Joy
RCA, 1970. Sealed
Oscar Brown's score for a hip play that he wrote (one of his many plays!) – performed by him, Sivuca, and Jean Pace. Despite the "show" quality of the material, this actually stands simply as a great Oscar Brown Jr. LP, and the production is nice and intimate, and sounds just like ... LP, Vinyl record album

Mark Murphy

Playing The Field
Capitol, Early 60s. Near Mint-
One of the best early albums by vocalist Mark Murphy – cut to arrangements by Bill Holman on side one, a set of big band numbers, and to smaller piano trio backing on side two, which features mellower stuff. Murphy's really developing his voice at this point, and is starting to get some of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Mose Allison

I Love The Life I Live
Columbia, Early 60s. Near Mint-
A real standout set from Mose – one of his few early sides for Columbia, and a great one at that! The album alternates between vocal and instrumental tunes – both handled with a rootsy flourish that's every bit the best Allison sound, before it became all overdone and cliched. The set' ... My Coloring Book
RCA, 1962. Near Mint-
Key work from Kitty Kallen's comeback period at the start of the 60s – work that showcases her wonderfully fragile way of putting over a ballad – a sad-tinged sound that's different from most other singers! There's a slight hint of country roots in Kitty's voice at times, but the style ... LP, Vinyl record album
