We Got A Thing That's In The Groove/Tired Running From You

7-inch (Item 44247) Karen, Late 60s — Condition: Very Good-

Two northern soul killers form The Capitols! "We Got A Thing" is a shameless follow-up to "Cool Jerk" – but we don't care, because the cut grooves great, and has some really wonderful drums at the beginning. "Tired" begins with some great drums, too – but then swings into a loping harmony groove that's really catchy. Great stuff – thanks to Ollie McLaughlin!  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good - (minus)

  • Vinyl may be dirty, and can lack a fair amount of luster.
  • Vinyl can have a number of marks, either in clusters or smaller amounts, but deeper.
  • This is the kind of record that you'd buy to play, but not because it looked that great. Still, the flaws should be mostly cosmetic, with nothing too deep that would ruin the overall record.
  • Examples include a record that has been kept for a while in a cover without the paper sleeve, or heavily played by a previous owner and has some marks across the surface. The record should play okay, though probably with surface noise.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Killer funk! "Action Speaks Louder Than Words" is a great lost 70's funk track, with a slow loping groove, and a tight choppy hook that just crawls along nicely! One of the best cuts ever by this New Orleans band – and always a treat! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Sho Nuff Boogie (parts 1 & 2)
All Platinum, 1974. Near Mint-
A great little track from Sylvia and the biggest group on her label! The track has a wonderfully sexy vocal feel – and it chugs along in a good mix of electric and acoustic instrumentation, in the same basic groove as Sylvia's "Sweet Stuff" single – which is a nice spare drum- ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Barbara Jean English was one of the more diverse singers on the east coast scene of the 70s – and this single is proof of her range. "Breakin Up" is an uptempo track with kind of a polished club feel – but we like "Guess Who?" a lot better, as it's a great sweet ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Dee Dee, Early 70s. Near Mint-
Super-hip work from vocalist Geraldine De Haas – also known as Geraldine Bey, of Andy & The Bey Sisters – a record done in Chicago after changing her name and moving to the Windy City! "Eli" is a soaring, airy number that's really superb – slowly building with Cadet ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
