From Broadway To Hollywood

LP (Item 440682) Trio (Japan), 1977 — Condition: Near Mint-

An ultra-hip record from Lorez Alexandria – one of her grooviest albums ever, and a set that was only ever issued in Japan! The set features Lorez hitting some of the hippest, most rhythmic modes of her career – working with jazzy backing arranged by Gildo Mahones and Art Hillery, filled with soul and spirit, and really inspiring Lorez to hit those snapping sort of grooves that make her best tracks so great! Titles include her classic take on "Send In The Clowns" – a real jazz dance classic that goes far beyond its roots – plus the titles "Maybe This Time", "Where Is Love", "Change Partners", "One", "Come Sunday", "Bright Lights & You", and "You Leave Me Breathless".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Art Union pressing from 2011 – with obi!)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Discovery, 1977. Near Mint-
A great album from the late 70's, featuring the excellent jazz vocalist backed by a totally tight group led by Gildo Mahones. The sound is deep and loud, and there's some nice phat bass on here, particularly on the intro to "Baltimore Oriole", which has a nice break sound at the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Sing No Sad Songs For Me
Argo, Early 60s. Very Good
An amazing album by Lorez Alexandria – probably our favorite-ever work by her! Brother Where Are You
Atlantic, 1973. Near Mint-
Sweet 70s funk from the great Oscar Brown – quite a change from his jazz-based work of the 60s, but a great new sitting for all of his wonderful wit and warmth! Brown's still a hell of a songwriter, and one with a very socially-conscious eye – sharper here than before, with lots of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Love
Reprise, 1961. Near Mint-
A really unusual album from Rosemary Clooney – recorded with lush backings from Nelson Riddle, in a style that gets past the lighter mode of earlier years! Clooney really opens up in Riddle's company – and hits a mature, adult mode that almost points the way towards directions Morgana ... LP, Vinyl record album

Tiger In The Rain
Warner, 1979. Near Mint-
Another slice of late 70s genius from the amazing Michael Franks – one of the few mainstream artists who was able to hold onto his own voice and course amidst the overwhelming force of the music industry! There's a beautifully mellow feel to the record – jazzy, warm, personal, and ... LP, Vinyl record album
Columbia, 1958. Near Mint-
A bittersweet set of vocals from Polly Bergen – recorded with a sound that really fits her sad-eyed look on the cover!
