Two of the greatest songs ever from the Incredible Bongo Band – brought together here in a special limited edition picture sleeve! "Bongo Rock" is a killer – a tune with a massive break that's been sampled countless times, and which has this amazing percussion part in the middle, mixed with lots of very cool horn effects! "Apache" is maybe even more classic – one of THE cuts that gave birth to hip hop – with a break you'll recognize instantly, and this mad groove that's plenty great on its own!  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(2006 issue.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Floyd Morris

Mellow Mood/Bee Que
BBS, Late 60s. Good
Stunning! "Mellow Mood" is anything but mellow! Floyd Morris lays down a hard rolling piano groove that doesn't stop until it hammers away for a hard 3 minutes, with a dark crashing hook that's the sort of thing that will haunt your dreams. It's a great track, and it's really one of ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Drew, Mid 60s. Good
Excellent group soul tracks, with a nice hard groove, and a good Detroit group sound. "Why Girl" has great harmonies, and a good Motown-esque sound. 7-inch, Vinyl record
Twinight, Late 60s. Fair
Two excellent rare sides by the Notations! The material predates their recordings for Curtom – and it's got a much rawer sound that's sort of a mix of sweet harmony soul with some of the rougher elements of the Twinight production style. Syl Johnson produced, and both cuts are written by ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

A great one from Brenton Wood! "Gimme Little Sign" is an obvious follow-up to his "Ooogum Boogum Song" hit, with a very similar beat and groove – but hey, that one's so great, we hardly mind the similarity, as it sounds like a very groovy part 2! "I Think" is a ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

2 great tracks from the Dells' best years! "I Can Sing A Rainbow" is a righteous semi-political cut that's mixed in a medley with "Love Is Blue", all set to stellar spacey Charles Stepney arrangements, and nice hard drums. "Hallelujah Baby" is a great one, too – ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
