Change (Makes You Want To Hustle) (parts 1 & 2)

7-inch (Item 4388) Blue Note, 1975 — Condition: Very Good
Out Of Stock

7-inch, Vinyl record

A classic from Donald Byrd – a wonderful number done in collaboration with Larry Mizell – and a mad mix of Latin and jazz funk grooving! Simply sublime – with a soulful feel that grabs you from the first note!  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(In a Blue Note sleeve. Label has a sticker.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Funky classic! "Alligator Boogaloo" is a longtime winner for Lou – and virtually the blueprint for the popular Idris Muhammad-driven drum breaks that would inspire a generation. "Rev Moses" is great, too – and has a rolling groove that's very nice! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Late Blue Note work from Horace – but great! "Gotta Take" is fast, tight, and has a hard-rolling soul jazz groove that almost takes Horace back to his late 50s roots for the label. "Down & Out" is slower, sadder – and even more compelling! The tune grooves ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Party Time/Nada Bossa
Blue Note, Mid 60s. Near Mint-
Wicked licking soul jazz from Freddie Roach! "Party Time" is a fierce organ/tenor groover – done with the impeccable sound of Freddie's best work for Blue Note – a non-stop joyous tune! "Nada Bossa" has a nice skipping bossa-esque groove – with the organ kind ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

One of the Young-Holt group's greatest tracks! "Wack Wack" is a stunning little jazzy groover – heavy left hand on the piano, with acoustic bass bouncing along on the groove, all very catchy, and with shouted vocals over the top! Great stuff – and proof that the guys were on ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

"In The Pocket" is another one of King Curtis' great non-LP tracks. It's got a nice loping funky groove, and very raw sax playing that's unlike some of the sweeter stuff you'll hear on his LPs! 7-inch, Vinyl record
