An obscure bit of smooth funk, produced by McKinley Jackson for At-Home Productions – but done in a way that's very similar to the At-Home work done for Fantasy Records during the late 70s. The group has a sound that's got a bit of a Chicano funk edge – almost sounding like War-meets-Bay Area funk – and that slight edge makes the best tracks really sparkle. Includes an excellent version of Wayne Henderson's "Keep That Same Old Feeling", plus "Time Is Running Out", "Baby Love", "Stomp & Buck Dance", "Shadow Dancing", and "Do The Beat". (Cover has a promo stamp & some light wear.)  © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

United Artists, 1976. Near Mint-
Soaring grooves and mellow moments – a perfect blend of 70s soul styles, summed up here beautifully by Enchantment! The album's one of the group's greatest – and certainly one that's been very well-remembered around these parts – thanks to some rock-solid arrangements from Johnny ... LP, Vinyl record album

People, 1973. Very Good
An incredible album – a landmark piece of funk that nobody should be without, funk fan or not! The album is the second to feature James Brown's famous backing combo of the early 70s – and unlike their first one, which was really more of a collection of singles, this album has the group ... Out Of Different Bags
Cadet, 1967. Very Good
Marlena Shaw's first-ever album – and while not as all-out righteous as some of her later work, still a really unique record that quickly put Marlena head and shoulders above the rest of the pack!
