Rinky-Dink/Getting Right

7-inch (Item 435408) Chess, 1962 — Condition: Very Good+

(Yellow & red label pressing. "Getting Right" plays with faint surface noise, appears to be a pressing flaw, with some label flaking from manufactuing.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Funky Pigmeat! This is one of the few funky singles that Pigmeat Markham cut for Chess – and it's a great one that mixes his off-beat comedy with some very funky grooves! Also a nice play on 2 late 60s comedic Laugh-In themes: "here comes the judge" and "sock it to me"! 7-inch, Vinyl record

A righteous soul gem from Chicago – killer work put together by Chi-soul DJ/Arranger Richard Pegue! A very cool little single done by John Fred in the years after his famous Playboy Band pop – 2 tracks done in a slow-stepping style that's a lot like Miami funk of the 70s, but recorded in Fred's usual territory of Louisiana!
