A really nice little record from High Inergy – one that sounds a lot better than we remember from some of the girls' other sets! There's almost a bit of a softening going on here – less "inergy" in the grooves, and more of a warm approach to soul that still works in the Philly-inspired girl group 70s style, but kicks things back a bit more – making a shift from Three Degrees into The Jones Girls, if that makes any sense. Titles include "Everytime I See You I Go Wild", "Didn't Wanna Tell You", "Lovin Fever", "Hi", "Fly Little Blackbird", "Beware", "We Are The Future", and "Peaceland". (Labels have some marker.)  © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Surface Thrills
Gordy, 1983. Near Mint-
An unusual set of 80s grooves from The Temptations – a record that still has the group at the top of their vocal powers, but which also changes up the sound of the rhythms a bit! Nolen & Crossley
Gordy, 1981. Very Good-
Smooth modern soul from the team of Curtis Nolen and Raymond Crossley – one of those "all in one" duos that seemed to be cropping up a lot in soul music at the time! Curtis and Raymond wrote, played, and sang on all of the tunes on the album – in a light and sunny style that's ... LP, Vinyl record album

Ear Wax/Wonderland, Late 70s. Sealed
An obscure little funky group from Detroit, one with a tight ensemble sound that's very much in the Earth Wind & Fire mode – complete with a really great horn section, plenty of bass-heavy grooves a the bottom, and a relatively spiritual feel that comes through strongly on the best tracks! ... Flying Start
Fantasy, 1974. Very Good+ Gatefold
Not the band's first album – as you might think from the "start" in the title – but a classic batch of jazzy, funky, and soulful grooves from The Blackbyrds – one of those combos that few groups could match back in the 70s! The set's got a beautifully put-together feel ... LP, Vinyl record album
