LP, Vinyl record album

A really nice little record from High Inergy – one that sounds a lot better than we remember from some of the girls' other sets! There's almost a bit of a softening going on here – less "inergy" in the grooves, and more of a warm approach to soul that still works in the Philly-inspired girl group 70s style, but kicks things back a bit more – making a shift from Three Degrees into The Jones Girls, if that makes any sense. Titles include "Everytime I See You I Go Wild", "Didn't Wanna Tell You", "Lovin Fever", "Hi", "Fly Little Blackbird", "Beware", "We Are The Future", and "Peaceland". (Cover has a sticker remnant, and some pen.)  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Turnin On
Gordy, 1977. Very Good+
Maybe the best album ever from this late 70s Motown group – a set that's got the girls really stepping out with a nice degree of power – in a groove that's different than the usual female disco mode of the time! The record's got a much more fully-formed sort of feel – not just a ... LP, Vinyl record album
Psychedelic Shack
Gordy, 1970. Very Good
A late 60s Motown classic – with a deep heavy soul sound that mixed psychedelic elements into a rolling righteous groove – with a style that was perfect for the political tenor of the times! Wings Of Love
Gordy, 1976. Very Good+
After influencing countless groups of the 70s with their righteous funky soul of the late 60s, the Temps end up sounding kind of silly trying to hit a funk groove like the rest of the other 70s bands. This is the case on side one, where the group's getting some keyboards and funky horn ... LP, Vinyl record album
Gordy, 1966. Very Good-
The first volume of greatest hits that Motown compiled from the Temps classic 60s recordings – and a batch of pre-1966 numbers that shows the best early side of the group. There's less of the heavier soul sound of later years – but the group's harmonies are very sweet, and in fine form ... LP, Vinyl record album
Law Of The Land
Gordy, 1973. Very Good+

One of the greatest albums ever from BT Express – tighter, smoother, and classier than the group's early funky disco sessions – and with a cosmic sound that shows them really growing at the time! Home Cookin'
SOUL, 1968. Very Good
Heavy duty instrumentals from this legendary Detroit tenor giant! This album's one of Jr's best – recorded with a rawer tone than later work, almost a mixture of funky 45 and R&B grooving. Motown favorites like "Come See About Me" and "What Does It Take To Win Your ... LP, Vinyl record album
Baby Dynamite
RCA, 1969. Near Mint-
Sock-hard soul from Aretha Franklin's funky sister! Liberty, Late 60s. Very Good
A record with a hokey cover and an unassuming title – but a wicked little set that's filled with funky soul throughout! Rasputin's Stash
Cotillion, 1971. Very Good Gatefold
A killer debut from Rasputin Stash – a funky group who work with all the long-haired inspiration you'd expect from their name!
