This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap.
We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't
look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time,
we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape —
which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be
torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played,
the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Features Mike Wofford on Fender Rhodes – plus Lew Tabakin on tenor and flute, Chuck Domanico on bass, and Shelly Manne on drums! LP, Vinyl record album
A key early entry in the "jazz meets Broadway" genre – and a record that was so successful, it went onto inspire countless imitations! Shelly Manne's working here in a lightly playful trio setting – alongside Andre Previn on piano and Leroy Vinnegar on bass, in a reading of ... LP, Vinyl record album
If you've ever doubted the influence of Coltrane on jazz, just check this 1970 session from Shelly Manne – one in which he's broken past the usual tight west coast TV jazz sound, and has moved into much freer territory with a group of younger (and hairier!) players. The group includes Pete ... LP, Vinyl record album
A wonderful version of the famous Henry Mancini score – arguably better than the original soundtrack for the TV show! Shelly Manne leads a small group of west coasters that includes Victor Feldman on vibes, Conte Candoli on trumpet, and Russ Freeman on piano – plus Herb Geller on alto, ... LP, Vinyl record album
A pretty darn great record – the first full length LP cut by Shelly, issued by Contemporary in the mid 50s, and pulling together side from sessions in 1953, some of which were issued previously, others of which appear for the first time here. The tracks are short and playful – very ... LP, Vinyl record album
Charlie Mariano was one of the best things to ever happen to Shelly Manne – as the young altoist's icy talent was a perfect match for Manne's west coast cool, but his Boston soul really added a lot more emotional depth than had ever been previously recorded on some of Manne's sessions. This ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of Shelly Manne's best early sides – a session that features arrangements and tunes by some of the best of the west coast scene – Jimmy Giuffree, Bob Cooper, Shorty Rogers, Jack Montrose, and Marty Paich – played by a group that includes Paich, Manne, Russ Freeman, Shorty ... LP, Vinyl record album
Pre-Atlantic work from Ornette Coleman – one of his first recorded statements in jazz – and one of his boldest! At some level, the complete Coleman sound isn't entirely in place here – as there's a bit of a trace of hardbop in the mix – not entirely, but just a bit. But at ... LP, Vinyl record album
Red Norvo's dragged his vibes out into a field of wildflowers – and while we hate to think what that's done to the sound of his instrument (not to mention his hayfever), we can definitely say that the album's a groovy treat from the decade when Red was turning out some of his finest music ...
